Panamax saved my gear
June 13th, 2008 by Patrick GSo I was sitting at home watching TV and playing video games. No surprise to anyone who knows me. I heard a “pop” and then all my equipment shut down and at that exact minute I heard a very loud crack of thunder. Lightning had struck very near my house.
I had lost a Pioneer receiver many years ago to a lightning strike. Now I was wondering which of my electronics were fried. Then I remembered how my Panamax surge protectors worked. They have a relay that shuts down the power to anything plugged into it when the voltage goes over 140v or below 90v. The “pop” I heard was the relay in my trusty M4300 protecting my home theater and the M8HT protecting my computer. Everything powered up fine. With a large sigh of relief I went over and patted my surge protector and returned to my game.
The only thing that was fried by the lightning was my in-game avatar which was scorched by nasties while I was restarting my computer.
Always use a surge protector! Panamax is the BEST!
And they make a good Father’s Day gift.
