What’s a Watt?

One of the most important pieces in your home theater system could very well be your subwoofer. Let’s face it, when we’re watching “King Kong”, we want to feel those foot steps. Or when we watch those war movies we want to be gripping on to the couch for dear life. Well to feel these types of effects you need a good subwoofer. Now there are several different types, size, and power ratings. 8-inch drivers are good for music but for home theater I would recommend a 10-inch or 12-inch model.
Now watt isnt everything but it does determine how much pressure the sub puts out. There are other factors; how it is ported, what kind of amp (class a – b). But as a rule of thumb try and get the best dollar per watt for your money. A great deal out there right now is the Infinity CSW10BK. It has a 10-inch driver and a powerful 650 watts. And the R.A.B.O.S. system calibrates the subwoofer’s frequencies to match your unique living environment. A really good buy because watts is what you want!
