The Netflix Player by Roku
May 22nd, 2008 by Mike K
We were all in a twitter the other day when the first set-top Netflix box was announced. Having extensively used Netflix over the years (and the Watch Now feature more recently) this product created a lot of buzz around our end of the office. Being an early adopter and Netflix fanatic Scot ordered one immediately. Last I heard it hadn’t arrived yet but expect a full review shortly.
Features of The Netflix Player by Roku:
- Over 10,000 movies and TV episodes instantly
- No change in monthly Netflix costs and you continue to get your DVDs by mail
- Easily connects directly to your TV
- Pause, rewind or play anytime – just like a DVD
- Guaranteed to work with your TV

Seriously. I cannot wait to get this little puppy. I’ll share my experience with you as soon as I can (if I can pull myself away from it long enough to shower and come in to work, that is).

Good news and bad news. Good news first: This Roku set-top box is proving to be very popular. Bad news: Shipping has been delayed. I’ll be sure to let you know when it comes in!

Finally got around to setting this little baby up last night (Age of Conan has been eating up my free time lately). This is sweet. Very, very simple to set up and even easier to use. My only concern is that I’m getting some wireless interference from my sound system’s wireless transmitter module (which is just a few inches from the Roku box currently). Eventually (hopefully this fall), I’m moving the Roku box to another room, so that will solve any interference issues. But, all in all, a great product! Well worth the money. My wife is already filling our queue with various guilty-pleasure movies for her to watch while I’m in the basement tromping across Hyboria in Age of Conan on the weekends!
