Scarlet Revealed

April 29th, 2008 by Mike Knecht

I can’t say I’ve ever seen a campaign for a new TV even remotely like this. The Kuro ads where interesting (if not a bit disturbing) and the Sharp ads with the guys in black suits waving the TVs around was memorable but this campaign cost a LOT of money.

Will it pay off? Depends on if you like the TV I guess. In this age of smaller and smaller bezels (the frame around the TV) the new Scarlet from LG embraces it’s frame in a way that reminds of the iMac from Apple. It definitely gives the set a bold look and makes it stand out in a sea of sameness.

LG has a track record of bold design (red washers and dryers anyone?) and this is an interesting continuation of that heritage. I personally find LG products to be very well designed and look forward to getting a closer look at this new member of the family.
